Plans, channels, AI costs and white label side by side, the WhatsApp cost both pricing pages leave out, and a trial test plan so you choose on evidence.

Chatrace and ChatbotBuilder both promise the same thing: one AI chatbot that answers customers on Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and more, from one dashboard, for a small monthly fee. On their pricing pages they look almost identical. They are not, and the differences decide whether the tool fits the way your business actually sells.
This comparison is for small business owners, consultants and agencies choosing a multichannel chatbot platform. You will get a side-by-side of plans, channels and AI, the hidden cost most comparisons skip, a simple way to choose, and a trial test plan so you decide on evidence instead of a sales page.
The short answer
Disclosure: I have no affiliate link with Chatrace or ChatbotBuilder. Every plan detail below comes from each vendor's own public pages and changelogs, checked in October 2026.
| Chatrace | ChatbotBuilder | |
|---|---|---|
| Main plan | Pro, $39 per month, priced per account (chatbot) | Pro, $49 per month |
| Contacts | Up to 3,000 on Pro; more through sales | Not stated on the pricing page |
| Team | Unlimited team members | Unlimited user seats |
| AI | AI included, no OpenAI account required; lists ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, xAI and DeepSeek | OpenAI key included with 5,000,000 tokens; you can also connect your own AI |
| Sales tools | CRM and sales pipelines, Facebook and Instagram comment automation, built-in email marketing | CRM pipelines for opportunities and tickets with pipeline analytics, AI agent replies in comment automation, built-in marketing tools |
| Free trial | 7 days, no credit card | 14-day sandbox, no credit card, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee |
| White label | $499 per month: 50 client accounts, 500,000 contacts | $2,499 per month: unlimited accounts, 1M contacts |
Prices change often, so treat this table as a snapshot. For reference, check the plans here for Chatrace and here for ChatbotBuilder before you buy.
Both platforms cover the channels most small businesses need: Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, voice and a chat widget for your website. The difference is at the edges.
So why does this matter? A channel you will not use is not a feature, it is noise. Count the channels where your customers already message you today, then check those first.
Both platforms let you train an AI agent on your business information so it answers questions, qualifies leads and guides buyers. They package the AI cost differently.
Both platforms publish a changelog, and both are worth reading before you decide, because features ship faster than pricing pages are updated.
A token allowance only means something when you translate it into replies. Here is the math, with every figure an illustrative example:
Illustrative example only
Tokens per AI reply (instructions + recent history + answer): 2,000
Included tokens: 5,000,000
Approximate AI replies covered: 5,000,000 / 2,000 = 2,500Your real number depends on how long your instructions are, how much chat history the AI reads, and the model you choose. Measure it in the trial: send 50 typical customer questions and check the usage counter before and after. The full method is in how much an AI chatbot really costs.
Whichever platform you choose, the AI is only as good as its instructions. Start with the structure in how to write AI agent instructions for any business.
If WhatsApp matters to you, the platform fee is not the whole bill. Meta charges for WhatsApp Business messages on a per-message basis, by message category and country, since July 1, 2025.
The rule that changed recently: from October 1, 2026, Meta resumed charging for service messages, the replies you send inside a customer service window, which had been free since November 2024. Each business phone number gets 1,000 free service messages per month, and charges start with the 1,001st. Messages from customers to you stay free. For reference, check the documentation here.
Both platforms sell a white-label version so agencies can offer the platform under their own brand, domain and prices.
For most small agencies, the deciding question is not price but support load. Every client you resell becomes your support ticket. Price your service with that in mind, using the tiers in how to package and price AI automation services.
If you are in the Philippines and sell mostly through Facebook with a team answering chats and processing orders, I recommend comparing both against Botcake and Pancake before you decide. See Pancake vs Botcake vs ManyChat and the wider platform guide for Philippine and Southeast Asian businesses.
Chatrace gives you 7 days and ChatbotBuilder gives you 14. That is enough time to decide, but only if you plan the test before you start. Run both with the same inputs.
1Collect 30 real customer questions from your inbox, including five difficult ones: a complaint, a price objection, a question your FAQ does not answer, a request for a person, and an order change.
2Load the same business information into both platforms: products, prices, policies and the handoff rule.
3Connect your main channel and send every question from a test account, exactly as a customer would.
4Score every answer as correct, partly correct or wrong, and note every time the bot should have handed off and did not.
5Let the person who will run it daily build one small change on their own, such as a new answer or a tag, and time it.
Acceptance criteria before you pay:
The scoring method comes from how to test an AI chatbot before it talks to your customers.
An honest limitation: this comparison is based on what each vendor publishes, and a feature on a pricing page tells you nothing about how deep, stable or easy it is. Two platforms can both list “WhatsApp” and behave very differently once real customers arrive. Only your own trial, with your own conversations, settles that.
On list price, Chatrace Pro is $39 per month per account with up to 3,000 contacts, and ChatbotBuilder Pro is $49 per month. Your real cost also depends on contacts, AI usage and WhatsApp message charges from Meta.
Yes. Chatrace lists TikTok among its channels, and ChatbotBuilder added a TikTok channel integration in October 2025, according to its changelog. Only Chatrace lists Viber.
Not on either main plan. Chatrace includes AI without an OpenAI account, and ChatbotBuilder Pro includes an OpenAI key with 5,000,000 tokens. ChatbotBuilder's White Label Enterprise plan requires your own key.
ChatbotBuilder offers a 14-day sandbox with no credit card and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Chatrace offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card.
